What Are We Doing to Ourselves?
I’m so sick of hearing about “health care reform” I could spit. For one thing, how did we become a society so obsessed with medicine? Doctors are considered almost deities these days. Everyone assumes that everyone has a doctor of their very own, to whom they run at every hangnail or sniffle.
Fixing the “system” isn’t that complicated if anyone was really interested in doing what’s necessary. Buying into the B.O.(B.S.) talking points and lies is not the answer. Rationing isn’t the answer, either. Tort reform and refusing all but emergency treatments for illegals would take us more than halfway to a solution. There’s more, but that isn’t the point of this post.
My husband and niece are going to drag me (kicking and screaming) to see a doctor this coming week. Over a lifetime, I have seen plenty of doctors, still waiting for one that’s worth a mud puddle. Maybe the problem is that I only visit one of them when I have no other choice, but whatever the reason, they usually assume that I’m either a hypochondriac or looking for drugs, or both. No matter how sick I am, I appear to be healthy and don’t usually dissolve into a puddle of tears to convince them I’m ill. At least this time I look sick, that’s a start…
How did we get so dependent on people who give us drugs to cure fairly minor problems and then create larger ones? Take a shot for arthritis and it can kill you. Take the newest anti-depressant and it can make you suicidal. Use the nasal spray and lose your sense of smell.
If we could stop running to the doctor for everything under the sun and only going when really necessary, just think of all the money we could save! Not to mention all the side effects we wouldn’t have to deal with, requiring more “wonder drugs” to cause new problems.
Think about it!

Hey I like your article, I completey agree I hate doctors. Doctors in this country are only motivated by money and greed and feel like thier better, and unaccountable to rest of society. There are good doctors sure, but the majority of them make me puke…..Nice article….
Thank you, davidrude!
